Bodyline Review: L391 Squirrel Party, L416, and Shoes S507

I placed another Bodyline order last month as I was desperately in need of some blue shoes! And of course I picked up a few other things too. Read more under the cut for details, flatlays, and a worn coordinate!

Here's what I got:

  • JSK L391 Squirrel Party in Mint
  • Cutsew L416 in Green
  • Shoes S507 in Sax

JSK L391 Squirrel Party

The first thing that I noticed when I took this out of the package is that the color isn't too accurate in the stock photos. In person the mint color has a blue undertone to it, that makes it a bit darker than other mints and a little hard to match (see the mint comparison in the photos below). The blue undertone is helpful though because my sax shoes almost match it, and Bodyline doesn't make mint shoes. The fit is very accurate to the measurements listed online which is nice. It's comfy to wear and could easily be dressed up or down.

The text on the print is backwards, but at least everything is spelled correctly... Aside from this, the print is beyond adorable with images of squirrels, cakes, presents, and bouquets. The different motifs means it's easier to find matching accessories!

This front bow is detachable so it can be taken off and used as a hairbow.

The yoke of the dress has different floral laces on it and is very detailed.

The dress has shirring and lacing to provide more rage in fit.

Cutsew L416

The color is a spring green, not a mint, which makes it almost impossible to match with anything in lolita, but it's so comfy that it's worth it! There's no scratchy lace, I can wear this all day. It's decorated with all kinds of lace and trim on the front, back, and sleeves.

Shoes S507

The color isn't the brightest blue, so it can be used with classic and sweet coords. They run pretty true to size and are comfy and easy to walk in. I already have these shoes in gold, and liked the style so much I thought I would get them in more colors. My main problem with these is that in one of the shoes the padding isn't adhered completely to the shoe... so it makes a squeaky noise when I walk and it's so annoying!! Maybe if I take them to a shoes repair place they can fix it. But I shouldn't have to take a brand new pair of shoes to get fixed. Bodyline never replies to customer service emails so I didn't even waste my time. I've heard that Bodyline's quality has really gone downhill with their shoes and I've seen other people get damaged shoes too, but in a lot worse condition than mine. I'm thinking it's time to stop buying from them.

My other problem with the shoes is that when I took them out of the box, the black dye on the soles started to rub off on my sheets! I almost put them onto a dress for photos, so be careful if you buy shoes that you don't smear whatever that is into any of your clothes. Overall I have pretty mixed feelings about everything I got.

Here are some photos of the dress and shoes worn!

  1. Hi!Thanks so much for putting these reviews out there! Its super helpful for new lolitas like myself. I was wondering if you could tell me where the pink blouse pictured in the cord is from? I really like it. The socks are cool too. Thanks so much!

    1. You're welcome! I'm glad you find them helpful :) The pink blouse is from Algonquins, which is more of a punk brand but some of their pieces work really well with lolita. I purchased it secondhand from Closet Child, they usually have a pretty good selection. The socks are from Angelic Pretty.

  2. Hey! I wanted to let you know I got the JSK from you today, and I'm super in love! It made my day! I feel cute for the first time in months, and the little candy bows are adorable! And the stickers are awesome!!! This is my first Lolita anything however, and I don't have a blouse for a coord yet, but I will hopefully get one after Christmas, and then I can wear it out!!!!! I'm so excited. Thank you so much.

    1. Your coord looks so cute by the way!!! I know I'll never look that cute. I'm in a wheelchair, and so that makes me look not as good

    2. Hi Rose! I'm so glad it arrived safely and that you're enjoying it :D It's a very fun print. Also I really want you to know that nothing could ever make you not cute! I want you to feel good when you wear the fashion because it's such a special experience! I've seen lolita bloggers that use wheelchairs before and I don't want you to feel discouraged from something that you're excited about. You're not alone! Frill Ability on instagram ( https://www.instagram.com/frillability/ ) is the first one that comes to mind. They wear a mix of different alternative fashions and occasionally lolita too. Maybe looking through their page could inspire you. I've also seen some girls decorate their wheelchairs with flowers and things to match their outfits for fancier events which is super cute. I hope you have fun when you wear your first coord out! <3
