Matsuricon 2017

At the end of the summer I went to Matsuricon. It was a really fun and very much needed weekend with friends. My plan was to bring 3 main pieces that I usually wear casually and coord them in new ways. Here are the results!

Friday

Coord Rundown:
Hair Accessories - Cutie Creator, Ribbon Cake, more taobao, Chocomint, Claire's,
Blouse - Bodyline
Necklaces - Angelic Pretty, taobao
Skirt - Drained Cherry - Angelic Pretty
Bag - F21
Tights - Target (dyed by me)
OTK's - Drained Cherry - Angelic Pretty
Shoes - Sosic Shop
Wristcuffs - Belladonna

Drained Cherry is a skirt that I usually only wear in super plain coords, so it was a lot of fun to shake it up in a decora outfit! I also wanted to use my new rainbow bag from Forever 21 so I made the focus on a primary color scheme of red, yellow, and blue. I really like the result, it's so punchy and bold. Traveling with a decora coord is super exhausting though, I was constantly worried about forgetting accessories behind at home, or leaving them in the hotel room.

This is my new favorite shoe picture of all time <3

Saturday

Coord Rundown:
Hair Accessories - Cutie Creator, Red Maria, taobao
Blouse - Pumpkin Cat
JSK - Starry Night Boat - Angel Cat
Accessories - Angelic Pretty, taobao, F21
Bag - Angelic Pretty
Tights - Target
Shoes - Sosic Shop

Saturday there was a J-fashion meetup so I saved my fanciest coord of the weekend for then. There were so many cute decora and fairy-kei outfits that really inspired me. I don't think my local area has a community for anything j-fashion related outside of lolita so it was fun to make new friends that wear other styles.

Sunday

Coord Rundown:
Bow - Taobao
Blouse - Bodyline
JSK - Lulu's Garden
Tights - Target
Bag - Loris
Shoes - Sosic Shop

Sunday was my most toned down day. (Sorry for the super blurry cell phone pictures, my phone is really old and I didn't bring a camera.) This JSK from Lulu's garden is a super comfy piece that's easy to throw on. You can see some more details of it in my review post here. I like the subtle vintage vibes it gives off when I wear my hair up and pair it with cherry accessories. It's easy to wear in everyday situations, like traveling home.

The Haul

3 new bag keychains, some animal crossing buttons and stickers,
a card captor sakura key necklace from Shiny Things,
Necklace and earring set from Puvithel

I don't really keep up with current anime but I play a lot of video games and was happy to see lots of video game themed items in the artist's alley at the convention. The only anime/manga that I do follow are magical girl manga and the super cliche shoujo manga. The CCS necklace is something that I've wanted for a while. Shiny Things on Etsy has a lot of other magical girl themed accessories too. I collect the plushie bag keychains because I think they're super cute to incorporate into coords when they match. The necklace and earring set from Puvithel is the one that I wore in my gothic coord on Halloween. They have a lot of accessories for all different types of j-fashion, I recommend checking them out.

Thank you for reading!
What conventions have you been to recently? Do you have any upcoming plans?

  1. I love all your outfits! It's so cool to see you doing decora lolita, I remember that being big but it seems like it's hardly a thing any more, which is a pity. So it's very cool to see you do it, and do it so well!

    1. Thank you so much for the encouragement! <3 I want the style to comeback so bad!! I feel like even regular decora is barely a thing anymore and it breaks my heart a little bit. The overall aesthetics of j-fashion are changing so much and none of the newer styles like larme or himekaji really speak to me and it's disappointing. I miss how eclectic and playful it used to be!
